Well, it's been just over a month since my last R'cade Mag Insider and with good reason: Volume 1 Issue 3 Summer 2012 of Retrocade Magazine was released this past Sunday night! Get it today at StoneAgeGamer.com for the low price of $2.99!
Isn't that a pretty cover? The photograph was taken by Catherine DeSpira and it's of her very own Tron cabinet. She took several photos of the cabinet for our special section covering the 30th anniversary of Tron's theatrical release. Incidentally, this wasn't the original design for the cover - the original was lost in a hard drive crash. Tradtionally, magazine covers contain verbiage that tells the prospective reader what's inside. But in this case, I felt that a single photo said all that needed to be said.
First let me tell you what's upcoming this weekend on R'cade Live!
Starting at 9 AM EDT this Saturday, July 14, it's Lonnie McDonald continuing his Joust (arcade) tour - this time at the former grounds of Twin Galaxies arcade in Ottumwa, Iowa!
Lonnie has been rolling scores on Joust cabinets across the USA and you can keep track by visiting the Joust Tracker on Patrick Scott Patterson's web site.
Then, at 12:30 PM EDT, tune into live coverage from the Video Game Summit featuring live tournament coverage along with the Twin Galaxies trading card ceremony!
Now, on to what was on R'cade Live!: we had a great lineup of programming centered around the Independence Day holiday as announced in this press release. A lot of great gaming was broadcast including Christian Keilback's record breaking run on Berzerk (2600).
Also broadcast was Paul Zimmerman's world record for Donkey Kong Jr. on the Wii VC recognized by Record Setter. Paul scored 1,034,800 points in his achievement.
Thanks to all the players that put forth the time and effort to broadcast on R'cade Live! and help raise money for Child's Play.
