Arcade Tournaments To Look Forward Before 2012 Ends
As 2012 is beginning to wind down, gamers are beginning to think about the 2013 releases and upcoming events. There are still a few notable arcade tournaments coming up during the last part of 2012, including one celebrating a classic video game franchise. Let's take a quick look at a few of these events.
Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Tournament
The Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Tournament will be held starting September 29th and will feature 128 of the top Street Fighter gamers from around the world. The first legs of the tournament will be held online and competitors will battle between Street Fighter X Tekken for the PS3, Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition Ver.2012 for the X360, and Street Fighter III 3rd Strike Online Edition for the X360.
The top 8 players will then go to a undisclosed location in Tokyo to compete on October 20th for the title. Street Fighter was the game that helped keep Capcom on the map in the gaming world and this event will commemorate their 25th anniversary for one of the most popular games ever.
Ranking Battle Season Returns
This year's version of RanBat will be held at the James Games Arcade in Upland, Ca and will feature Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom3 and Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition 2012. Both games will be on the X-box.
There will be six RanBat sessions with two having already completed. The rest will run through September and October with all players welcome to play as long as they can come up with the modest entry fee.
The top three players at each RanBat will split the prize pool with 70% going to the overall champion. At each event, there will be $1 removed from the entry fee to go towards the season pot. The top three players with the most points at the end of season will split the season pot.
This event is great for those wanting to get their feet warm in tournament competition or those wanting some softer competition. You can find out more at the James Games Arcade fan page on Facebook.
Tekken Tag Tournament 2
Qualifying events in the UK and lreland are currently underway for spots in the Tekken Tag Tournament 2 European Final at the Electronic Sports World Cup in Paris starting October 31st.
Each qualifier will award between one and four spots to the Euro Final in Paris with players competing in Tekken Tag Tournament 2. Average price for entry is 11 Euro and events are double elimination.
This would be a great way to win your way into one of the highest profile events of the year, but your competition will be stiff. Click here for more information on qualifiers.
